CaveCast 005:Foundations of the philaDELphia Groove: The Early Perspective was the first in a series of three podcast events in which special guest DEL (5 Magazine / Do You Wanna Boogie?) explores the roots of Dance Music.

DJ, writer, producer, and music lover DEL begins his first in a series as featured guest in a special CaveCast series exploring dance music from the Foundations to the Formative Years to Where we are Now. This episode focuses on DEL’s roots in dance music in Philadelphia in the 70s, where he has DJ’d ever since. DEL takes us on a journey from the Soul Survivors to Billy Kennedy and Walter Gibbons and to legendary clubs Second Story and Catacombs.

ImageImageDEL is a music lover, producer, writer, and DJ hailing from the city of brotherly love, philaDELphia, DEL has had a successful career with the world’s largest healthcare company while maintaining his passion for music throughout his life. Besides his hometown, DEL has DJ’d across the US, in Europe, and Mexico.

DEL is a senior editor for 5 MAGAZINE, the leading house music magazine in America, as well as a reporter for Traxsource. His DEL MIX series and 5 Magazine Residents’ Series mixes have been favorites over the years. DEL has also created edits and original productions under his philaDELphiaSOULmusic™ and Hurtin’ U Musik™ monikers. His recent release, “NO FAKE”, on Ospina Digital… has hit the top 100 on many playlist and download rankings.

Having played at seminal house music parties such as Sundae, Mi Casa Es Su Casa (Mexico), Shakedown, and PEX; through his residencies – Do You Wanna Boogie?, SHELTER(NYC), and Fridays @ g; as a DJ on WDFM’s University of Jam; and with his experience across a diversity of genres… DEL always shares his energy and SOUL as he “tells a story” through his music!

DEL credits his relationship with his late brother Jimmy (award winning club lighting engineer) and the incredible DJs at the legendary clubs, The Second Story and Catacombs, as the foundation for why and how he plays. The dancers and music lovers know that when DEL is playing, “SOMEBODY’S GONNA GET HURT”!
